The center of the drop is where you would find the most and the sickest.

Then there is the second group.. the people who get sick from someone else who was sick. The virus is ALREADY showing signs of dropping off. This to me indicates that swine flu is WEAKENED by transmission from person to person.

Swine Flu Eerily Similar to Spanish Influenza

Swine flu continues to affect Mexico, the United States and other countries around the world. The outbreak has confounded experts who wonder how the flu is spreading and what it will do next.

One possibility is that the flu could behave like the 1918 Spanish influenza—a terrifying prospect as estimates put the death toll from that flu strain at anywhere from 20 to 50 million, or more. 

There are striking similarities between the two outbreaks. Swine flu, like the 1918 pandemic, began in the spring. Both outbreaks have also mostly been reported in healthy adults; the elderly and the very young, usually the hardest hit by the flu, have not been significantly affected.

OK well that doesn't seem so "EERIE" to me. They are both viruses and they both seemed to start quickly. THAT is where the similarity ended. The Spanis Flu pandemic of 1918 started spreading and picked up steam, killing more and more people as it moved.

The Swine WHO Flu of 2009 started in Mexico, killed a bunch of people and seems to not be able to sustain itself in a human host long enough to be more that a sniffle and a sore throat.

Historical Context – The Spanish Flu

In 1918, the flu did not immediately incite hysteria. According to PBS, a Spanish wire service announced late that spring that "A strange form of disease of epidemic character has appeared in Madrid," but that "The epidemic is of a mild nature, no deaths having been reported."

But the Spanish flu didn’t remain mild, to say the least. As summer became fall, the flu—which had at first seemed “benign as the common cold,” according to a Stanford University report—changed. People began to die around the world in huge numbers, most likely due to a mutation in its makeup, making it more virulent.

Compare that to what is happening now. A virulent flu which at first seemed like it was going to kill everyone in sight, has fizzled out to nothing.

To me all signs point to this being a designer virus made in a lab somewhere and dropped in Mexico either as a test for something bigger and better to come, or simply as a weapon of mass deception and confusion. Panic on top of economic hardship. Manipulation at it's finest.

Canadian officials announce a torrent of new confirmed swine flu cases

Does anyone know how many a "torrent" is?? Prime Minister Stephen Harper assured the public that governments around the world are working together on the issue, even as Canada's caseload almost doubled to 34 with 15 new confirmations, including the first in Quebec.

Must be metric!! [:))]

"Thankfully, all cases in Canada continue to be mild," Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq told a news conference in Ottawa.

I think her last name has the flu!

"Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday that he would not recommend taking any commercial flight or riding in a subway car “at this point” because swine flu virus can spread “in confined places.” A little more than one hour later, Biden rushed out a statement backing off.

“I would tell members of my family — and I have — I wouldn’t go anywhere in confined places now,” Biden said on NBC’s “Today” show.. “It’s not that it’s going to Mexico. It’s [that] you’re in a confined aircraft. When one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft. That’s me. …

“So, from my perspective, what it relates to is mitigation. If you’re out in the middle of a field when someone sneezes, that’s one thing. If you’re in a closed aircraft or closed container or closed car or closed classroom, it’s a different thing.”

In the meantime, Georgia is feeling a little left out, since they haven't had any confirmed cases there. A health official has gone on record as saying that swine flu is coming and people will die. We've heard that swine flu likes Georgia, but it's just been real busy visiting friends and family. Maybe it'll stop by Saturday for a bit if you think you'll be home!

Dr. Patrick O’Neal, director of preparedness in the Georgia Division of Public Health, told reporters on Wednesday that the chances of the swine flu bypassing the state are “virtually nil.” That’s because influenza is highly contagious.

COME ON!! Did he really say that???? According to AJC.com That's a direct quote. Well good gosh, the good Dr Patrick, as it turns out, was right. Influenza IS highly contagious. I am sure that the doctor was thrilled to hear that swine flu finally has been confirmed in Georgia! 

The state health chief said Thursday that Georgia has its first case of swine flu — in a 30-year-old woman from Kentucky who was visiting the state.  The woman, whom officials would not identify, is in a hospital in LaGrange in Troup County, said Elizabeth Ford, head of the state Division of Public Health.

I don't think that counts though. She's not actually FROM Georgia, she's from Kentucky. Dr O'Neal was last seen doing one potato, two potato with a health official from Kentucky to see who could claim her.

Swine Flu Up to Level 5

WHO is warning that "pandemic is imminent" as they raise the pandemic value to Level 5. From Reuters

"The biggest question is this: how severe will the pandemic be, especially now at the start," Chan said. But she added that the world "is better prepared for an influenza pandemic than at any time in history.

So what exactly does this mean?  Here's a picture from the WHO website that illustrates what the levels are. They number 1 through 6.

Despite the fact that the media and governments are all atizzy, I just want to inject a little reason here. A handful of people have died from this, and only one outside of Mexico. A couple of hundred infected people sounds like a lot but please.. put this into perspective.As of April 2009, the Earth's population is estimated to be about 6.77 BILLION.

Do you know what Egypt is doing? They are mass slaughtering all of their pigs. Talk about overkill. Well Egypt is a muslim country, and the pigs are owned by Christians. OK so it's not REALLY about the swine flu is it!??

Seriously, people do not panic! Stock up on zeolite and your agaricus blazei supplement.  Zeolite is a detox agent and anti-viral, and agaricus blazei is stock full of Beta Glucans to boost your immune system and kickstart your natural Killer Cells.

Panic will not help. Staying healthy will!

Was this strain of Swine Flu biologically engineered in a government (or drug company lab)?

• Human influenza
• Bird Flu from North America
• Swine flu from Europe
• Swine flu from Asia

This is rather astonishing to realize, because for this to have been a natural combination of viral fragments, it means an infected bird from North America would have had to infect pigs in Europe, then be re-infected by those same pigs with an unlikely cross-species mutation that allowed the bird to carry it again, then that bird would have had to fly to Asia and infected pigs there, and those Asian pigs then mutated the virus once again (while preserving the European swine and bird flu elements) to become human transmittable, and then a human would have had to catch that virus from the Asian pigs — in Mexico! — and spread it to others. (This isn't the only explanation of how it could have happened, but it is one scenario that gives you an idea of the complexity of such a thing happening).   ~Mike Adams, Natural News

Put that way it's hardly a likely scenario is it? And as is noted by many, the fact that this virus started in Mexico, where poultry and pigs are rarely (if ever) raised together creates another huge question mark.

Why would anyone want to create a lethal virus like swine flu?

That's the billion dollar question isn't it? When in doubt follow the money trail. Here are some theories that are worth turning over in your mind, and given track records, they are not really a stretch to picture.

Large Pharmaceutical Companies – Often derisively referred to as "Big Pharma" have the most obvious reasons to do something like this. Economies are slumping, and Big Pharma profits are down. A flu pandemic could be the ticket for a lot of people to get rich. Stocks from companies such as Baxter and Roche are already climbing, and (surprise!!), the existing flu vaccine called TAMIFLU just happens to be effective against this strain of flu…. But wait a minute….. this flu has never before been seen, not even in animals but Tamiflu works for it?? hmmmm …. Nevermind that the vaccine only reduces the viral symptoms by 1 to 1 1/2 days! It's laughable really when you think of the incredible risk of side effects.

 

Could a mixed animal-human mutant like this occur naturally? And if not, who made it, and how was it released?

Not one to dabble too deep in conspiracy theories, I don't have to strain very hard to find actual facts to support the notion that this may not be a natural mutation, and that those who stand to gain have the wherewithal to pull off such a stunt.

Just last month I reported on the story that the American pharmaceutical company Baxter was under investigation for distributing the deadly avian flu virus to 18 different countries as part of a seasonal flu vaccine shipment. Czech reporters were probing to see if it may have been part of a deliberate attempt to start a pandemic; as such a "mistake" would be virtually impossible under the security protocols of that virus.

The H5N1 virus on its own is not very airborne. However, when combined with seasonal flu viruses, which are more easily spread, the effect could be a potent, airborne, deadly, biological weapon. If this batch of live bird flu and seasonal flu viruses had reached the public, it could have resulted in dire consequences.

There is a name for this mixing of viruses; it's called "reassortment," and it is one of two ways pandemic viruses are created in the lab. Some scientists say the most recent global outbreak — the 1977 Russian flu — was started by a virus created and leaked from a laboratory.

Another example of the less sterling integrity of Big Pharma is the case of Bayer, who sold millions of dollars worth of an injectable blood-clotting medicine to Asian, Latin American, and some European countries in the mid-1980s, even though they knew it was tainted with the AIDS virus.

So while it is morally unthinkable that a drug company would knowingly contaminate flu vaccines with a deadly flu virus such as the bird- or swine flu, it is certainly not impossible. It has already happened more than once.

But there seems to be no repercussions or hard feelings when industry oversteps the boundaries of morality and integrity and enters the arena of obscenity. Because, lo and behold, which company has been chosen to head up efforts, along with WHO, to produce a vaccine against the Mexican swine flu?

Baxter!¹¹ Despite the fact that ink has barely dried on the investigative reports from their should-be-criminal "mistake" against humanity.

According to other sources,¹² a top scientist for the United Nations, who has examined the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in Africa, as well as HIV/AIDS victims, has concluded that the current swine flu virus possesses certain transmission "vectors" that suggest the new strain has been genetically-manufactured as a military biological warfare weapon.

The UN expert believes that Ebola, HIV/AIDS, and the current A-H1N1 swine flu virus are biological warfare agents.

In addition, Army criminal investigators are looking into the possibility that disease samples are missing from biolabs at Fort Detrick — the same Army research lab from which the 2001 anthrax strain was released, according to a recent article in the Fredrick News Post.¹³ In February, the top biodefense lab halted all its research into Ebola, anthrax, plague, and other diseases known as "select agents," after they discovered virus samples that weren't listed in its inventory and might have been switched with something else. ~Dr Joseph Mercola

Since we are talking about pharmaceutical companies, let's talk about the coincidental press releae on April 16th by Novavax as reported in "Drug Discovery and Development" online magazine. They report, (quite coincidentally we assure you) ….

 Thank you Dr Smith…. in order for this report to be released on the 16th (just 3 days after the first cases of H1N1 were discovered in Mexico) it would have had to be in their editorial queue for at least a month, but we vote for 2 or 3 months. Incidentally here are the recent stock figures for Novovax. Wow they've done good this week huh?

Who else might have the resources and motives to be genetically engineering a virus to create a pandemic?  World governement leaders are beginning to point fingers. Take Indonesian Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari's comments for starters

Jakarta – Indonesian Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari said Tuesday the deadly swine flu virus could have been man-made, as she urged calm over its spread around the world. The controversial minister did not elaborate but in the past she has said Western governments could be making and spreading viruses in the developing world to boost pharmaceutical companies' profits.  "I'm not sure whether the virus was genetically engineered but it's a possibility," she told reporters at a press conference … *snip…

The minister has refused since 2006 to share all but a handful of Indonesia's bird flu virus samples with WHO researchers, saying the system is being abused by rich countries to develop profitable vaccines which poor countries must buy. ~source News24.com

Texas Governor, and former presidential candidate  Ron Paul Warns Swine Flu Scare Will Be Used As Precedent For More Big Government. 

Now I like Ron Paul. It continues to amaze me that "the powers that be" allow him to continue to get away with the things that he exposes. In a YouTube Video released today, Governor Paul says:

“It makes me think back to 1976, the first year I served in the Congress. We had a vote on the swine flu. Back then there was panic, they said it was going to sweep the nation and they rapidly came up with some flu shots and the government was going to inoculate everybody and save the world from this disaster.”

“It turned out that our instincts were correct.” the Congressman, also a medical physician, commented. “Not only did we think that the government should be involved in making medical decisions… but the flu came, the flu went and one person died, except for those individuals that died from getting the flu vaccine.”

Interesting yes??

I am also going to encourage you to compare how this virus is behaving when held up to typical flu pandemics.

BOSTON (MarketWatch) — Obama administration officials declared a public health emergency Sunday over a deadly outbreak of swine flu, following an international warning from the United Nations' health agency and moves around the world to secure antiviral medicines.

The U.S. declaration came shortly after officials confirmed that students at a New York City high school were sickened by the same strain of swine flu that has killed people in Mexico, following similar cases in Texas, California and Kansas.

They were found stabbed to death in the trunks of cars, thrown off bridges, or they wrapped their cars around trees after their brake fluid disappeared. Once again, this is the stuff of Hollywood spy stories, and not the way you would expect a microbiologist to give up the ghost.

(NaturalNews) The World Health Organization has revised its pandemic alert scale this week, right in the midst of a swine flu outbreak. Under the new criteria, a Phase 4 rating indicates human-to-human spread of a virus, a Phase 5 rating indicates human-to-human spread of the virus into at least two countries in one region, and a Phase 6 rating indicates a global pandemic with widespread outbreaks.

Interestingly, the WHO is quite aware that swine flu has now spread to Mexico, the United States and Canada, as is evidenced by this statement on their website: The Committee considered available data on confirmed outbreaks of A/H1N1 swine influenza in the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada. The Committee also considered reports of possible spread to additional countries… (http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news…)

… and yet, amazingly, the WHO has not yet raised the swine flu alert level to the phase for which it clearly qualifies (Phase 5). After all, hasn't this swine flu virus already achieved "human-to-human spread into at least two countries in one region?" (Mexico, the U.S. and Canada, by my counting, would qualify as three countries in one region.)

So why is the WHO not following its own well-defined guidelines for categorizing viral outbreaks?

Downplaying the infections

It seems that the decision makers at the WHO, along with Mexico's health authorities, are working hard to make swine flu appear less dangerous than it really is. Infections are spreading by the day, with new countries found to be infected on a daily basis. The death toll in Mexico City is rising quickly, and the virus is cropping of simultaneously in cities and nations around the globe (a highly unusual spread pattern, historically speaking). Is this not enough to warrant a Phase 5 declaration?

Interestingly, at the same time, the U.S. Dept. of Homeland security has done essentially nothing to restrict air travel from Mexico or to screen arriving passengers for swine flu infections. Sure, they claim to be running a "passive screening" program now, but that only amounts to "DHS personnel on the lookout for sniffles." It's hardly a robust screening program like the ones set up in the airports of Asian nations.

Given the behavior of Swine Flu so far, the response of world health authorities to this outbreak seems suspiciously apathetic. I've studied all the major pandemic outbreaks since 1918, and I've never read about a new, highly-contagious influenza virus appearing almost overnight in eight different countries. That fact alone should be alarming to anyone familiar with infectious disease agents.

Sure, the fatality rate in the U.S. may seem low right now, but it was probably low in Mexico City early on, too. The deaths might start to kick in a week or two later than the original carrier infections. So the fact that the U.S. has so far escaped any swine flu deaths (officially, anyway) may only be a matter of timing, not a measure of actual danger posed by the virus.

With infection numbers rising fast — over 100 students in a single New York City school are now confirmed with the infection — the U.S. is bound to start seeing more severe swine flu cases emerge.

ATLANTA, April 28 (Reuters) – Americans are expressing anxiety about swine flu, and the sale of flu medication and items such as protective face masks are up in some places where cases have been confirmed.

"It's a weird situation right now," said Aaron Armelin, a telecommunications technician in Los Angeles. "Everyone's a little leery of anyone coughing. Even though the news makes it seem really, really bad, it doesn't seem like it's actually that much of a concern," Armelin added. Interviews with people around the United States indicated few signs of panic or wholesale changes in behavior due to an outbreak of a new virus that has sickened people in several U.S. states and killed up to 149 people in neighboring Mexico.

We've lived through live media coverage 24 hours on BBC of the gulf war, 9/11 and the war on terror, now banks and car dealerships are failing and we can't pay our mortgages and you want us to get all worked up about the FLU?? 

We're tougher than y'all think! You better step up the coverage a bit.

It’s now confirmed…. 4 patients in Ontario and 2 in Alberta have been diagnosed with mild cases of the Swine Flu. This brings the total number of swine flu cases in Canada to 13. All of them had travelled recently to Mexico.

I can’t help finding this entire dabacle a little strange.We get a bunch of serious cases in Mexico City and a ton of people die, then people who have travelled to Mexico recently are found to have the swine flu but they are all mild cases. I wonder …

Am I the only one who thinks this has a wierd feel to it?

Swine Flu Provides Distraction from Gulf Wars and Economic Depression!

I get that people are getting sick, and I understand that a pandemic might not be a great thing to have happen, but lets' not get so worked up about it that we forget that we have soldiers in Afghanistan, and middle east. Let us remember that we have sons in the gulf off of Somalia's shores. Let's not forget that there are PEOPLE killing people and that's just as important as influenza H1N1.

Can we please try to stay real? A couple of hundred people have died from swine flu. I wonder how many people in Africa or India died today from lack of clean drinking water?

Ah well…. back to reporting!
